Ariana Grande has released a new music video for her most recent single Thank u, next, her first to top the billboard top 100 charts. The song came out quite recently after her 4th studio album, Sweetener, and although was not included in the album, has quickly become a fan favourite.

Accompanying the number 1 single, Ariana started releasing pictures and snippets for the soon to be music video. The video features remakes of scenes from classic 2000’s chick flick movies, the main characters being played by the pop star herself, with old friends Colleen Ballinger, Matt Bennett and Elizabeth Gillies and special guests such as Jennifer Coolidge, Kris Jenner and Troye Sivan acting as co-stars.
Before the snippets of the video were released, nobody really knew what to expect from the video, or if one would be made at all due to the heartfelt lyrics and mention of previous relationships, including long-term boyfriend Mac Miller who passed away not long before the song was released.

With the song discussing such a horrible topic, a break-up, yet being so upbeat and transitioning into a song about self-love and appreciation, she really could have taken the video in any direction. However, nobody, not even diehard fans, could have expected what was to come from a now record-breaking video. Ariana takes on the true characteristics of those she is playing perfectly, letting nobody forget how she came into the public eye first and foremost as an actress.
The video has broken YouTube records surpassing 46 million views in its first 24 hours of release. Now up to 104 million views, this video is one for the history books.
